Sunday Night Cosplay

Anime Costume Contest

This is by far the most highly anticipated event of the convention.

Due to the enormous growth of Cosplay competitions at past conventions, we have moved the event to Sunday night to allow it more separation from other activities. One of the advantages of a 4 day convention is the extra evening for programming. This will allow us to have the Cosplay as the single big event on Sunday night while several other evening events can happen on Friday and Saturday night without conflicting with the Cosplay contest which could easily span 4-6 hours.

You should now have a much better chance of seeing the contest while not missing the other big actvities that normally go on Saturday night. It also gives you more time to finish or even create a costume during the convention (maybe at the costume workshops!)

Rules

All CosPlay participants must be members of AnimeFest 2004.
No Costume is NO COSTUME. Please remember some of the attending fans are young so if you can’t wear it to Grandma’s you can’t wear it here.
No more than 6 people on the stage. You may trade players by having one walk off and another walk on but no more than 6 at any one time.
All costumes must pertain to Anime, Manga or Anime Video Games. Please provide a picture reference of who you are portraying, as this will be helpful during the judging.
Please do not throw anything onto the stage or at the audience. We WILL make you clean it up and the Event Coordinator WILL be grumpy about it. It could also get you removed from the convention.
No flash pots, explosives, fire, smoke, fog, or mist of any kind.
No real weapons of any kind.
All music must be cued, clearly marked and turned in with your sign up sheet.
Time limits will be as follows: (Time limits will be enforced. A sign will be held up at the 2- minute mark. If you go over your time you will be asked to leave the stage.)
1. Runway walks have 60 seconds.
2. Individuals or groups up to 3 members have 3 minutes
3. Groups of 4 or larger have 5 minutes
The CosPlay staff may disqualify anyone for any reason deemed sufficient.
There will be a mandatory rehearsal the day of the CosPlay. Bring a script if you are unsure about the rating or your skit.

Please remember to use common sense. We want everyone to have a good time so please respect the rules and other players.

$15 - Child (8-12) Membership.

$25 - If paid online or postmarked by February 28th

$35 - If paid online or postmarked by July 31st

$40 - If postmarked by Fri Aug 21st or paid online by credit card by Fri Aug 28th

$45 - Purchased after Fri Aug 28th online or at the convention.

Admission is only available to AnimeFest members. Memberships are available at the door, but are priced higher than if purchased prior to the convention. Memberships purchased now are valid though December 31st, 2009 and include admission to AnimeFest 2009. Additionally the member may also be entitled to attend other AnimeFest sponsored events for free or at a nominal charge (although these other events are rare).

Due to information privacy laws, children 12 and under may not register online or by mail. However:

Children 7 years old and younger may not actually join the club, however they are admitted free to club functions when accompanied by an adult member.
Children ages 8-12 may join the club, but may only register at club events. Children's memberships are available for only $15. In addition, a parent or verifiable legal guardian must be present to give consent to join the club.
All children under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult at all club functions. Therefore, the adult guardian must also be a member in order to accompany the minor to most convention functions. [more info...]
