  • Featured Panel and Workshop Descriptions

  • Making Manga - Session I: Based upon the forthcoming book published by Barnes & Noble! American manga-maker Bruce Lewis (ROBOTECH, GALL FORCE, STAR BLAZERS,LOVE COOKIE) goes in-depth and in detail on how to get a piece of the current manga boom in the U.S. With manga now the most popular form of comics sold in the North American market, the time is ripe for young creators to get in on the action, and Bruce is here to show you how. Bring your questions - how to "break in", what kind of pens work best, esoteric queries - Bruce will have the answers, or will show you where to find them.
  • Making Manga - Session II: Get the tools you need to make your own manga here! American manga-maker Bruce Lewis (ROBOTECH, GALL FORCE, STAR BLAZERS,LOVE COOKIE) covers the Seven Steps to making your own American Manga, and discusses in detail the sale of his latest comics project, LOVE COOKIE (forthcoming from TokyoPop in 2005). As before, any question you may have on tools, tehniques, or the Manga industry is welcome. Based upon the forthcoming book published by Barnes & Noble!
  • Character Development Workshop: What's the difference between a good character and a great one? Find out in this workshop that examines the question. A deeper look into the character creation process, popular online webcomic publishers, Squirrelworks.com creators Aaron Romo and Chris Moujaes explore the elements that create the characters that inspire us all. This workshop is ideal for writers and artists, as we discuss the internal character as well as the design aspects.
  • Webcomix: Many things go into a webcomic and this workshop covers the various elements. Popular online webcomic publishers, Squirrelworks.com creators Chris Moujaes and Aaron Romo discuss not only comic production for the web but also the dymanics of the site itself. Whether you're looking to find answers to all those questions about the drawing process itself or you're a designer wanting to broaden your web concepts, this workshop is for you.
  • Drawing Workshop: with Squirrelworks and Boxer Studios
  • Costuming Round Table: This costuming forum gives attendees the chance to compare craftsmanship methods of different costumers and gain some new and creative ways to make costumes, props, and style wigs. Paper Wings will provide an example of a prop or costume, and the forum members will discuss how they, personally, would go about making the costume in question. Everyone costumes a different way, and this should be a great opportunity for costumers to learn about alternative crafting methods!
  • Too Much Character for Your Average Cosplay: How to construct robots, mascots and other costumes that require armor, muscle suits or proportions which go beyond the basic human form.
  • Otaku Hell: An Infernal Celebration of Badfilm. Look for it Sunday night
  • Iron Cosplay: Test your creativity by creating a costume out of unknown bits in a short amount of time.
  • Origami: Learn how to make a simple piece of paper into a work of art with John Mascio. There will be panels on both Saturday and Sunday at 5pm.
