Has anyone here been to Japan?
Is the sky really filled with flying pokémons (painted on airplanes)?
Going to japan is on my to do list, right next to solving the mystery of the Blade Children. Someone has to do it.

I spent 2 weeks traveling Japan in summer of 2006. I went with the People to People Student Ambassador program. It was expensive but I got to stay in nice hotels, all the food was payed for and the itinerary has lots of things regular visitors don't do. We got to tour the Tokyo Metro Government building, learn about tea ceremony and calligraphy, visit an animation school and get our portraits drawn by students, stay with a Japanese host family for a weekend, attend high school during their festival, ride the shinkansen, visit the memorials at Hiroshima, tour temples/shrines/castles, pick tea, shop in Akihabara and Harajuku and climb part of Mt. Fuji. And travel on really nice tour buses. I wish I had been able to speak more of the language, the people were always impressed/appreciative when I said something in their own language. Being an anime nut just made the whole experience more awesome Very Happy

If you can afford it and plan well it's definitely a worth-while cultural adventure =D

I just went last month on a student exchange. I stayed with a host family and..did a lot of nifty things Very Happy. It's really fun!!

I wouldn't want to live there for too long either, and definitely wouldn't have wanted to be born/grown up there, but it's fun to visit Smile

I've been half a dozen times, but I only really count 1... since the rest of them I was restricted to military bases.

However, even that 1 time was at Okinawa... so I was able to speak English almost everywhere.

They didn't have of the really cool futuristic things, but I think that they were hiding them from the US military until they can take over the NATO military like they have in most Anime.
