Well, I figured try to get an early start on this one so that hopefully we have things to work with.
I'm posting a section for VK/JPOP/JROCK, but I can say, as much as I'd even like to see some there, it's unlikely. Usually AnimeFest chooses things that have some sort of relation to anime and/or games. But as you make suggestions, I'll try to add on to the list as I can.
JPOP/JROCK/VK [anime and/or game related]
- Junko Iwao (Ayashi no Ceres, CCS)
- Jinn (Blood +, Code Geass)
- Bump of Chicken (Tales of the Abyss) [music also used in various Bemani, Drum Mania and Pop n’ Music games]
- The Pillows (BECK, FLCL)
- Aki Toyosaki (K-ON!, Kanamemo, Sora no Manimani)
- abingdon boys school (Nana, Deathnote, D.Gray-Man, Darker Than Black, Soul Eater, Sengoku Basara)
- Bonnie PINK (Gantz, Rurouni Kenshin, ToV)
- Chemistry (Antique Bakery, Terra e…, Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny, Astro Boy[2003])
- Chiaki Ishikawa (Bokurano, .hack//SIGN (TV), .hack//Unison (OAV), .hack//Liminality (OAV), Kaze no Stigma, Mermaid Forest, Mobile Suit Gundam Seed, Simoun)
- Aira Yuki (IDOLM@STER: XENOGLOSSIA, Sola, Tears to Tiara, True Tears)
- Nightmare (Claymore, Death Note, Moryo no Hako)
- Maximum the Hormone (Air Master, Akagi, Death Note)
- Scandal (Star Ocean: Second Evolution, Bleach)
- Anna Tsuchiya (NANA)
VK, JROCK, JPOP [non-anime or game affiliated]

| kristel wrote on Tue, 11 August 2009 18:58 | I would LOVE to see Anna Tsuchiya hit Dallas. She did a lot of music for the NANA anime, and the ending theme for Resident Evil: Degeneration. Not to mention she starred in Kamikaze Girls. Google informs me she played Anime Expo in 2007.

I second this. I would love to meet her and see her perform.

Dir en Grey
Asian Kung-fu Generation
L'Arc-en-Ciel
The Pillows
Maximum the Hormone
Flow (again please)
Orange Range
The Back Horn
An Cafe

I would pass out if any of these bands made it to Animefest.
Please get a good band this year. Eyeshine was cool but I want a Japanese band this year.

I don't know how good this reply will be (seeing as how it's probably too late to contact them about an appearance this year) but I'd like to throw in my suggestion for The Yoshida Brothers.
I think a concert by them would be amazing.

Sakanaction is really good.
Girugamesh or something like that.
Or maybe SID. That'd be pretty swell.

Well even though they were the band for animefest one year, I'd like to see Ramen and Rice come back again if you don't mind. I'd be happy with them doing a concert again or even having a show before the actual band that is going to play. I love listening to them.
I will suggest other bands even though I know it's nearly impossible and would be only a dream but here it goes anyways just for my two cents:
Gackt
L'Arc En Ciel
Gazette
ayumi hamasaki
maaya sakomoto
Flow
Kalafina
all I'd like to ask is no local bands that think they can sing japanese or have made a new 'version' of a song...I've seen that happen a lot at some other cons and personally a lot of people didn't stay for long for the concert so no local bands please unless they are really REALLY good! thanks.
Animefest '10 -
Saturday: Okita Souji - Hakuouki Kitan Shinsengumi
Sunday: OC Kitsune

Anyone know if the whole NIRGILIS thing will be the band and thats it or are they still looking for a BAND band. NIRGILIS is apparently opening the raves (or one of them anyway) thats not the usual concert slot so its not clear if an actual concert band is still coming or not?
